About Hwarang Healer

Hello! I am Yeong-Tae, a Korean shaman-priest or a baksu. More often you may see the term mudang which typically refers to shaman-priestesses. Korean shamanism, while able to serve everyone, is a closed initiatory practice. I studied for 3 years and was initiated into a spirit lineage by Mudang Mi in 2022. During the ceremony, many of my gods expressed their plans to heal people through me. To pursue my fate as a healer, I enrolled in graduate school to train as a mental health counselor. Currently, I am still pursuing licensure and do not offer counseling services. However, this specialization can be felt in how I hold space for emotions in my divination services. Feel free to reach out to schedule divination or prayer, or to ask any questions! I look forward to helping.

Before becoming a shaman, I studied to become an animator and became a professional caregiver. While I still love art, it was through caregiving I realized the sacred joy of supporting others through life struggles. When not at school or in the shrine, I'm often crafting in the company of my cat.

I named my shamanic practice Hwarang Healer after the hwarang of the Silla Kingdom. This role is often translated as "flower boys" or "flower knights". For me, the meaning is one of honoring those who came before as well as nurturing a sense of gentle masculinity and healing wounds both past and present.

Feel free to reach out to schedule divination or prayer, or to ask any questions! I look forward to helping.

Thank you!
